Increase rate of farmland preservation | Letters To The Editor | lancasteronline.com: The Feb. 11 Sunday Magazine article “Reasons to love Lancaster County’’ expressed the many reasons why people love it in this county. And while about half of the article dealt with people and the arts, the other half dealt with the rural qualities and sights associated with other parts of Lancaster County.

If we love the back roads, farms, trails and rural scenes, the questions we should ask ourselves are, what have we lost already and how do we save the rest?

News & Views: Another impactful job shadow with Chicago agriculture students: Following a successful maiden voyage in February 2017, we were pleased to be able to coordinate our second day of job shadows for students from the Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences on Tuesday.

We had 30 juniors and seniors paired up with 15 local hosts, including Pearl Valley Farms, Hunter Haven Farms, Pearl City Elevator, Alliance Nutrition, Adkins Energy, Berner Foods, CoreFX Ingredients, Stephenson Service Company, Scheidairy Farms, High Plains Pork, Citizens State Bank, Compeer Financial, Lena Veterinary Clinic, New Hope Veterinary Clinic and Holland & Sons Equipment. Our terrific hosts immersed their student guests in the functions of their respective businesses, and the students got a first-hand look at a number of professions that they may have only read about previously.

Passionate about a supportive industry - Agriculture - Rural Lifestyle - General News - Farm Weekly: A PUSH in the right direction was all young gun Elly Mckenney, 21, needed to fall into the agricultural industry.

Some people are lucky enough to be born into the industry and others stumble into it.

Elly was one of those people who, at the age of 15, found herself working in a shearing shed and the start of her agriculture journey.

Now she finds herself completing her third year in a Bachelor of Agricultural Business Management through Charles Sturt University at the Muresk Campus.
