Farm sales rise in spite of farming ups and downs | Stuff.co.nz: Rural real estate agents are crediting more farm sales to ongoing confidence in farming despite dairy and lamb markets coming under pressure.

Farmers sold 61 more farms over the three months ending December than the 486 farm sales for the same period last year. Nine regions recorded increases in sales with Northland and Hawkes Bay leading the way with more than 25 sales, followed by Otago and Auckland.

However, Real Estate Institute of New Zealand statistics show overall median prices were down 2.3 per cent in the last quarter at $28,120 for each hectare of all farms sold compared with $28,781 in the previous period.
