Grain markets are mixed as soybeans are getting support from export demand while wheat bounces due to large fund short position. The US Dollar recovers from FBI surprise announcement on Clinton email problems. Next week’s Presidential election has traders cautious about taking on new risk.

Corn harvest is expected to be near 75% complete this week versus 61% last week and 73% average. Soybean harvest should be near 85% complete versus 76% last week and 83% average. We will get USDA’s estimate at 3:00 pm today.

The strength is being led by soybean oil as it regains yesterday’s losses. The US Dollar is lower also providing support to grain buyers. Rain across the northern and central Midwest will keep farmers from harvesting. Stock indices remain rangebound as traders wait for employment data later this week and presidential election in early November.

Weekly crop progress showed the US Corn crop 24% harvested, just below the average analyst estimate and the 27% five-year average. The crop was rated 73% good-to-excellent, a drop of 1% from last week. Analysts were looking for the crop to remain at 74%.
