Keeping an Eye on the Gulf this weekend | abc13.com: HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Other than the highly disorganized Tropical Storm Ida, tropical activity remains limited over much of the Atlantic basin. That might change as early as this weekend over the Gulf of Mexico, and residents all along the Gulf coast will need to be weather aware.

Nearly every computer model we track is trying to spin something up in the Gulf, but they all differ on exactly where it forms and thus where it tracks. Given that the weather pattern also favors low pressure development in the Gulf, we believe the computer models are on to something and giving them a little more confidence than normal this far in advance.

Historically, Texas is vulnerable to tropical activity thru mid-October, so we'll keep you well informed on this potential development.
